The man arrested for allegedly kidnapping a Bay doctor from his surgery earlier this month appeared in the KwaZakhele Magistrates Court on Monday where the charges against him were provisionally withdrawn.
Hawks spokesperson Warrant Officer Ndiphiwe Mhlakuvana says this is pending the ongoing investigation as more arrests are expected.
Dr Bongani Qini, 55, was abducted at his surgery on the 1st of July by four men at gunpoint.
WO Mhlakuvana says R6 000 and six cellphones belonging to Qini's patients were robbed while an additional R50 000 in cash was taken from his vehicle.
He says Dr Qini was rescued unharmed.
A ransom demand was made for Qini's release but the Hawks did not divulge any information as to whether or not any monies were paid.
The investigation continues.
