A Gqeberha man who allegedly murdered his mother will in all likelihood plead guilty when the case resumes next week.
The State alleges that Maurice Butlion, 33, is responsible for the death of his mother, Sharon-Ann, 65, who died in a suspicious fire two years ago.
Her partially burnt body was found inside her flat in Park Drive.
During his court appearance on Wednesday, Butlion's attorney, Advocate Johan Van Der Spuy told the court that he had consulted with his client and received instructions.
Van Der Spuy asked that the matter be postponed to Monday, for finalisation.

Butlion spent 30 days at the Fort England Hospital in Makhanda, where he underwent a psychiatric evaluation.
A psychiatric report confirmed that he is fit to stand trial.
The report further stated that "at the time of the alleged offence, the accused was able to appreciate the wrongfulness of the act in question, and able to act in accordance with such appreciation of wrongfulness."
The report recommended that the law take its course.
Butlion has been in custody since his arrest on 14 September 2022.
The case was remanded to 14 October.
