Bitou Municipality says it's proud to have retained Blue Flag status for six beaches in the municipal area.
Robberg 5, the Waves, Nature’s Valley, Lookout Beach, The Dunes, and Singing Kettle also received Special Awards celebrating 15 and 10 years in the Blue Flag program.
Bitou Municipality also received two Blue Flag awards for Offshore Adventures’ boats. Nature’s Valley Reserve Beach earned the prestigious Green Coastal Flag Status Award for the second consecutive year.
The World Travel Awards have also nominated Plettenberg Bay as one of the Leading Beach Destinations in the World.
This marks its first global nomination, placing it alongside renowned beaches like Thailand, Hawaii, and the Maldives.
At the same time, Cape Town is also a South African nominee in Africa’s Leading Beach Destination category; Plettenberg Bay is the sole South African contender for the global title.
The awards were established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all tourism industry sectors.
