The Eastern Cape Government said it had concluded a settlement agreement with the former Head of the Department of Education, a year after Dr Naledi Mbude was placed on precautionary suspension.
Bhisho said on Wednesday that details of the settlement agreement would not be made public, even though it acknowledged public interest in the matter.
Dr Mbude was suspended last April, amid a probe into the delays in the delivery of stationery to schools and the processing of payments for educator assistants over the 2021 festive season.
She was also in the spotlight for the Department's under-expenditure of the infrastructure conditional grant leading to the return of R205 million to the treasury.
“Dr Soyisile Nuku who was appointed as the Acting HOD for Education in April 2023 will continue to lead the department and the OTP will immediately engage in processes to recruit a new HOD,” said Rantjie.
