Eastern Cape scholar transport operators would receive their outstanding payments by month’s end.
That was the promise from the Provincial Department of Transport following delays in payment for last month.
Spokesperson, Unathi Binqose, said the delay was due to technical glitches at the National Department of Treasury.
“Invoices for October, and previous months, will be paid next Tuesday and Wednesday, and not today (FRI) as planned,” he said in a short statement.
"We want to extend a sincere word of apology to scholar transport operators for this glitch," he said.
Binqose said it was something out of the control of the Eastern Cape Transport Department, but gave the assurance that "we are on top of things" and that payments would be affected by the end of the month.
