The young man from Gqeberha who is accused of murdering his girlfriend on New Year's Day made another about-turn in the city's magistrates court.
Twenty-five-year-old Baxolise Vuso told the court during a previous hearing that he would be abandoning his bid for bail, and that he intends to plead guilty to the murder charge.
However, on Monday afternoon he backtracked, announcing that he now wants to apply for bail.
Vuso is charged with the murder of his 21-year-old girlfriend Zanele Dibaza, after allegedly severely assaulting her on the head at his house in Booysens Park.
Police in Gqeberha said Dibaza succumbed to her injuries on the same day of the incident.
Vuso is set to launch his bid for bail in the magistrates court on Tuesday.
