A woman and two men are in police custody after allegedly hijacking a man at gunpoint in Gqeberha on Monday.
Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the incident happened in Settlers Park in Central, shortly before 8 a.m.
She says the 22-year-old driver of a Hyundai Atos just parked on How Avenue when four suspects approached him.
Colonel Naidu says they demanded his keys at gunpoint before getting into his car and driving off.
She says about half an hour later, members of SAPS in Humewood spotted the vehicle in Marine Drive in Summerstrand and a chase ensued.
Colonel Naidu says the suspects jumped out of the car and fled into the bushes.
She says members from SAPS Mount Road and Walmer assisted and arrested all three suspects who will appear in court soon.
They are aged between 30 and 40.
One suspect, who allegedly had the firearm is still on the run.
It was a busy day in Gqeberha as just hours later another five suspects were arrested for hijacking a truck full of appliances.
