The police in Gqeberha are investigating a murder case after a man was gunned down in Commercial Road outside the Cillé High School on Friday morning.
Police spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge says the 47-year-old man was shot and killed at approximately 07:45.
“It is alleged that he dropped off children after which unknown suspects approached him and shot him several times in the head and upper body while he was still sitting in his vehicle.,” said Beetge.
He said the motive for the murder is under investigation and the man has not yet been identified.
When Algoa FM arrived on the scene on Friday morning, traffic was still standing, and parents were rushing to the school to pick up their children.
The Silver Toyota double cab bakkie was still parked outside of the school and the man, who was believed to have been running from the shooters, was found outside the vehicle.
The school also said in a letter that no learner was harmed in the incident, but it cancelled exams scheduled for Friday.
