Bail hearing date set for son charged with Dad's murder

A Gqeberha man who has been charged with the murder of his father will launch his bid for bail in the city's Magistrate's Court next week.

Juan Kolesky, 30, allegedly hired people to have his father, Anton, 50, killed.

Anton was shot at the family's Rowallan Park home in August 2020 and died at the scene.

Kolesky's arrest, nearly four years after the murder had taken place, has sent shockwaves through the community.

He was arrested in June while in police custody on an unrelated charge of house robbery.

It is understood that cell phone evidence, which allegedly includes messages in which he planned to have his father murdered, linked the accused to Anton's death.

During a previous court appearance, State Advocate Liezel Landman made an application before the court for Paul Roelofse to produce his Fidelity Fund Certificate (FFC).

All practising legal practitioners must have a valid FFC.

Roelofse handed his FFC to the State on Monday.

Kolesky is the fourth person to be charged with Anton's murder.

His three co-accused are Dellon Makoppa,37, Kurt Bosman, 30, and Bernard Kopper, 33.

Because they appeared in court in connection with Anton's murder before his son's arrest, their case was remanded to 30 July.

Kolesky will apply for bail on 22 July.
