Anton Kolesky murder case heading to GQ High Court

A 30-year-old man from Gqeberha who has been charged in connection with the murder of his father has abandoned his bid for bail.

The State alleges that Juan Kolesky is behind the murder of his father, Anton, who was shot and killed at his home in Rowallan Park in August 2020.

Anton, who was 50 years old at the time, was shot and killed inside his house in Rademeyer Street and died at the scene.

Kolesky was arrested in connection with the murder in June while in custody on an unrelated charge of house robbery.

On Monday his attorney, Paul Roelofse informed the court that Kolesky has opted to abandon his bail bid, for now.

Roelofse said his client will apply for bail at a later stage, once he's had a chance to study certain evidence and documentation.

State Advocate Liezel Landman said the matter is trial-ready and ready to be transferred to the High Court.

"We just need to finalise the bail application," she said.

On Wednesday last week, Kolesky was granted bail of R10 000 in connection with the house robbery charge, but he is however still in custody due to the pending murder case.

The house robbery was allegedly committed at a smallholding in Greenbushes on 17 June.

On this charge, Juan is the only accused.

His co-accused in the murder charge are Dellon Makoppa,37, Kurt Bosman, 30, and Bernard Kopper, 33.

Because they appeared in court in connection with Anton's murder before his son's arrest, their case was remanded to 30 July.

Kolesky will appear in court again on 13 August.
