Eastern Cape police have identified another person they believe could be linked to the recent mass shooting in Lusikisiki where 18 people, mostly women, were killed.
Provincial spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Siphokazi Mawisa, said they are trying to trace Songeza Vuma urgently.
“A thorough preliminary investigation by the SAPS Provincial Serious Violent Crimes Investigation teams have reasons to believe that Songezo (Mashiya) Vuma would be able to assist the police in solving the Lusikisiki mass murders,” she said.
So far at least seven people are behind bars for the brutal murders of 18 people following an attack on two homes in a village near the town last month.
One of them, Mzukisi Ndamase (46) was taken into custody from a Correctional Centre where he is serving a life sentence for murder and robbery.
Ndamase joined co-accused, Siphosoxolo Myekethe, 45, Aphiwe "AP" Ndende, 25, Lwando Antony Abi, 33, and Bonga Hintsa, 31, Zenande Paya, 38, and Mawethu Nomdlembu, 36, who have all since abandoned bail.
Their case was postponed to 26 November for further investigations.
Colonel Mawisa said anyone who may know the whereabouts of Vuma, is requested to contact their nearest police station.
