Another man gunned down in broad daylight in Port Elizabeth

A 45-year-old man was shot and killed outside his vehicle in Govan Mbeki Avenue, Port Elizabeth, on Monday afternoon.

Colonel Priscilla Naidu says police were alerted at around 12.30 pm to a shooting which occurred as the victim was standing outside the driver's side of his bakkie.

Its believed that two men approached the victim and fired shots at him at close range.

The suspects then fled on foot.

The man was taken to Greenacres hospital where he later passed away.

Police have yet to establish the motive for the murder - the second deadly shooting in Govan Mbeki Avenue in a matter of days.

On Friday morning, a 43-year-old man from Walmer Township was shot dead in front of a busy taxi rank next to the Lilian Diedericks Municipal Building.

The deceased still had his car keys in his hand and he died from a single bullet wound to the left side of the face which was also fired at close range.
