Two couples living in a house in Rowallan Park in Gqeberha had a harrowing ordeal when two suspects armed with a gun and an axe gained entry into their home on Maasdorp Street.
Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says the complainant and his girlfriend were in one bedroom and the brother and his girlfriend in the other room when they heard movement at 3 am and went to investigate.
She says they were confronted by armed men who demanded money.
The men eventually fled on foot with two laptops and two cell phones.
Captain Janse van Rensburg says it was later established that the suspects gained entry into the house by forcing the burglar bars open on a small window next to the sliding door at the front.
No arrests have been made.
