Eastern Cape police are investigating the death of a four-year-old girl whose body was found inside a pit latrine at a Primary School at Glen Grey.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Majola Nkohli, says the child's mother went to the school on Tuesday morning to find out where she was, as she had not returned home the previous day.
He said “a preliminary investigation” led to the discovery of the child's body in one of the pit toilets at the school in Vaalbank Administrative Area in Glen Grey.
Nkohli said members from SAPS' Search and Rescue team retrieved the child's body.
He said the circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated and SAPS has opened an inquest docket.
In 2018 five-year-old Lumka Mketwa died in a pit latrine at Luna Junior Secondary School in Mbizana.
Her parents are reportedly suing the Eastern Cape Education Department.
