The man who allegedly slit an eight-year-old Plettenberg Bay girl's throat and dumped her body mere metres away from her home briefly appeared in the local magistrate's court on Monday.
State prosecutor Henriette Breedt informed the 18-year-old suspect Lulama Candani and the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) had made a decision that the matter should be heard in a High court.
The matter was therefore postponed to August 27 to obtain a high court date and to transfer the case.
Candani in the meantime remains behind bars.
Candani was arrested on December 9 last year after he handed himself over to Knysna police and voluntarily showed police where the body of Sesona Bhayibhile was dumped.
He allegedly slit her throat a day before his arrest and dumped her body in dense bushes near her home in Bossiegif on the outskirts of Plett.
