Alison is back in rehab- grateful and determined

Gqeberha rape survivor Alison Botha is back at a rehab centre with renewed determination and a positive spirit.

This is according to a statement from "Team Alison," which regularly updates the public.

Fifty-seven-year-old Alison made national headlines in 1994 when she was raped, disembowelled, stabbed multiple times and nearly decapitated.

She was left for dead near Schoenmakerskop and crawled to the main road,d where a good samaritan came to her aid.

Meanwhile, good Samaritans have opened their hearts and wallets to donate funds for Alison's medical care, which has lifted her spirits because so many people came to her aid.

"For 30 years, my goal has been to share my story to encourage others. Now, facing this life-threatening event, I’ve felt your encouragement and care flooding back from you. Words can’t express my gratitude to all of you. It is quite overwhelming!" she said.

Alison suffered a brain aneurysm earlier this year and is determined to make a full recovery.

Her attackers, Frans Du Toit and Theuns Kruger were released on parole last year.

The men who spent 28 years behind bars will be under strict parole conditions and will be supervised by the Department of Correctional Services for the rest of their natural lives.
