WSU's Butterworth campus reopens following student protests

The Walter Sisulu University's Butterworth Campus has opened its doors today after a week of closure.

Students last week protested at the University causing instability which led to its closure.

University spokesperson Yonela Tukwayo, said the management and student political structures, held a meeting at the Butterworth campus on Wednesday.

The campus gates were also opened for the students on the same day.

Students have agreed to vacate the Student Village upon request, to allow for maintenance work.

The meeting took note of the commitment made by student leadership to maintain order at the campus.

Staff members only reported to the campus on Thursday and normal operations have resumed.
