Trump says he will make America "great again"

US President Donald Trump said for too long Washington flourished while people outside the US capital struggled.

He was inaugurated Friday as the 45th President of the United States.

With former US president Barack Obama looking on Trump said “the establishment protected itself,” Trump said in his inauguration address, and the people have not shared in the wealth.

“For too long a small group in our nation’s capital has reaped with rewards of government while the people have borne the cost,” Trump said.

“While they celebrated in our nation’s capital there was little to celebrate for struggling families all across our land. That all  changes starting right here and right now because this moment is your
moment. It belongs to you.”

He told the American people that he would “focus on “America first,” denouncing US spending on foreign countries at the expense of its own people.”

“Decisions on trade and foreign affairs will be “made to benefit American workers and American families,” Trump said.

He denounces spending on foreign militaries and foreign aid as the US “defended other nations’ borders while refusing to defend our own.”

Trump also vowed to create a global alliance against Islamist terrorism, which it will “eradicate
completely from the face of the earth.”  He said the US under his administration will reinforce old alliances and create new ones.

He also told the American people that they would never be ignored again.

“Your voice, your hopes and your dreams will define our American destiny,” Trump said

He concludes a brief inaugural address by repeating his campaign promise:

“Together we will make America great again.”
