Thirteen people were killed and several others wounded after a gunman opened fire in a bar in California.
County Sherrif Geoff Dean said police found eleven victims inside the bar and several other people with gunshot wounds.
He said the shooter, who is believed to be the only suspect, was also killed bringing the death toll to 12.
A fellow police officer, who was first on the scene, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died soon after being rescued from the line of fire.
He is the thirteenth confirmed death in the shooting.
Dean could not immediately say what the motive for the attack was or if there was a link to terrorism.
