Police in the US state of Texas have arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with the death of former Springbok rugby player, Pedrie Wannenburg.
He died in a multi-vehicle accident in Austin at the weekend when the teenager fleeing police, crashed into the back of the 41-year-old Wannenburg's car.
The Harris County Sheriff, Ed Gonzalez confirmed the arrest of the teenager on Sunday.
He has been charged with felony murder, and reckless and aggravated assault, causing serious bodily injury.
Gonzalez says Wannenburg's 8-year-old son, Francois is in a critical condition in hospital while his 10-year-old daughter Isabelle and wife Evette escaped serious injuries.
Wannenburg moved to the United States six years ago, where he worked in the refrigeration industry and also coached the West Houston Lions.
