A team of researchers at a private University in New York has created a toilet-seat based cardiovascular monitoring system aimed at lowering hospital re-admissions for patients with heart failure.
The toilet seat, designed and created by the Rochester Institute of Technology is equipped to measure electrical and Mechanical activity of the heart and can monitor heart rate, Blood Pressure, oxygen levels and the patient's weight.
The toilet seat will then analyze all the data via its algorithms and alert doctors if the patient's condition is deteriorating.
A report will then be passed along to cardiologists.
The University is now working to get the seat approved by the FDA and is hoping to roll it out across America soon.
