SA Airforce plane damaged after 'crash-landing' in Congo

The South African National Defence Force said one of its aircraft sustained damage after "crash-landing" at Goma airport in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

SANDF spokesperson, Simphiwe Dlamini, said the incident happened on Thursday afternoon.

He said a C130 BZ military aircraft from the South African Airforce was returning to Goma after delivering logistic supplies at Beny.

"Nobody was injured during the landing and a board of inquiry will be convened to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident," he said.

Associated Press reported that there were 59 passengers and eight crew on board when its left engine caught fire upon landing.
