Two astronauts are lucky to be alive after the launch of their Soyuz Ms-10 spaceship in Kazakhstan was aborted in mid-air.
According to NASA the spacecraft launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Russia to the International Space Station on Thursday, with American astronaut Nick Hague and the Russian cosmonaut Alexey Ovchinin, when there was an anomaly with the booster.
This led to the launch ascent being aborted, resulting in a ballistic landing of the spacecraft.
Search and rescue teams were deployed to the landing site, where both men were taken out of the capsule.
They appear to be in good condition and have been transported to the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre just outside of Moscow.
The NASA team is monitoring the situation carefully and will conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the incident.
