Port Elizabeth police have arrested a teenager for attempted murder in the city's northern areas.
Colonel Priscilla Naidu says persistent high-density patrols in the areas resulted in the arrest of the 18-year-old late on Sunday afternoon.
She says the Visible Gang Intervention Unit received information of a wanted suspect walking in Martin Street, Gelvandale.
Naidu says it is alleged that the suspect got out of a car on the 20th of August, and fired shots at six people standing in the yard of a house in Standford Road.
She says five of them sustained gunshot wounds, while the sixth fell and broke her leg while running away.
Colonel Naidu says the suspect is affiliated to the New Kids Gang and is expected to appear in court on Tuesday.
