BIRMINGHAM, England (AP) -An English woman who released a helium balloon in Birmingham earlier this month to commemorate the anniversary of her father's death was left speechless when it ended up in Poland.
The baloon travelled more than 1 700 km, crossing land and sea, before landing in a field in northern Poland.
Nicola Bowler had put her phone number on the balloon and was phoned by a farmer who found it.
He was so moved by the gesture of the grieving daughter that he sent her a message.
Bowler says her father, who died at the age of 68 from cancer, was not very well travelled. She believes the distance the balloon travelled now "would mean loads to him".
