Key sponsors concerned about FIFA fraud allegations

One of the five key sponsors of the FIFA World Cup has expressed its concern and disappointment with the latest scandal to rock the World Football Governing Body.

The high ranking FIFA officials were arrested in Zurich in Wednesday during a massive crackdown on alleged fraud and corruption, reportedly spanning over a 26-year period.

Visa said in a statement released on social media platform Twitter that they initially became a sponsor, because the World Cup is one of the few truly global sporting events with the power to unite  people from around the world through a common love of football.

Visa said it was important for FIFA to make changes or they would reassess its sponsorship.

Meanwhile, Coca Cola, another key sponsor, said the arrests and allegations had tarnished the mission and ideals of the FIFA World Cup and called upon the Governing body to address the issue thoroughly.

Other key sponsors include McDonalds, Hyundai and Adidas all expressed concern and informed FIFA that the situation was being closely monitored.
