Frankfurt (dpa) – German police and prosecutors have closed down a child pornography platform with more than 87,000 members after
investigating the criminal group for several weeks.
Police have arrested several members of the so-called darknet, the Frankfurt public prosecutor’s office said on Thursday.
A darknet can only be accessed by using tools which help shield users’ identity and online activities, making it a preferred platform
for trading illicit goods and engaging in other illegal activities.
The 39-year-old suspected operator of the child pornography platform, which has been running since last year, was also arrested.
The platform was not only used to exchange pornography but to arrange meetings to abuse children.
