A Ugandan traditional healer and his daughter have been arrested for allegedly selling a fake vaccine for Covid-19.
An independent news channel, Alternative Africa reported that the father and daughter told people that the vaccine would protect them against the Coronavirus which has affected many countries around the world since its outbreak in China last December.
Police spokesperson Fred Enanga told the Ugandan newspaper, News Vision that Saaid Kaire and his daughter Amina were arrested following a report from the area's deputy chairperson.
Enanga said the two allegedly visited several families telling them that they had discovered a vaccine for the Coronavirus.
He said that a fee was allegedly negotiated with the seller before it would be administered.
The investigation continues and the two have been released on bail.
The country has no suspected or confirmed cases of the virus yet.
