Amazon is looking to hire 100,000 new employees for its fulfilment centres and delivery network to meet the surge in demand during the coronavirus outbreak.
The company said they are helping communities around the world by delivering critical supplies directly to the doorsteps of people who need them.
Amazon's Senior Vice president of Worldwide Operations said they were seeing a significant increase in demand which has resulted in an unprecedented need for more workers.
He said workers in the US will get an extra $2.00 (R33.20) per hour until the end of April while those working in the UK and other European Countries well get a similar raise.
Amazon currently pays $15.00 (R249.00) per hour for entry-level jobs.
The company expects to spend about $350 million in increased compensation across the US, Europe and Canada.
As people are urged to stay home amind the Coronavirus outbreak, demand for delivery is at a record high.
The company said it has started running out of some household staples including toilet paper and other daily necessities.
