Ethiopian Airlines said that there were 149 passengers from 35 countries as well as eight crew on board the flight which crashed shortly after take-off on Sunday.
The Group Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Airlines, Tewalde Gabre Mariam, said Boeing 737 MAX aeroplane crashed shortly after taking off from Addis Ababa to Nairobi.
He said according to the manifest released, there were 32 Kenyans, 18 Canadians, nine Ethiopians, eight Chinese, eight Italians and eight Americans as well as seven victims each from France and the UK.
Others are six Egyptians, five Germans, four each from India and Slovakia while Australia, Russia and Sweden have three nationals each and two each from Spain, Israel, Morocco and Poland.
Other countries, including Nigeria, have one victim each as well as one United Nations (UN) passport.
Ethiopian Airlines said it was too early to speculate on the cause of the crash.
The Democratic Alliance said it was saddened by the news.
