A 3-metre-long python suffocated a man to death inside his home in northern Thailand as his horrified sister tried to rescue him, local media reported Tuesday.
The 55-year-old victim had been keeping the snake captive in a large earthen jar underneath his elevated home in Sukhothai, around 370 kilometres north of the Thai capital, the Bangkok Post reported.
The incident occurred on Monday evening as the man was trying to remove the python from the jar. The man was reportedly holding a
knife when he went to retrieve the snake.
The snake coiled around the man’s body and neck, and as he cried out for help, his older sister raced downstairs and pulled on the
python’s tail, but the animal’s grip was too tight.
Neighbours and relatives eventually recaptured the python, whose body had some cuts on it, presumably from the knife the victim was holding, the report said.
