Botswana finds no trace of deadly Coronavirus

The government of Botswana on Wednesday said five suspected cases of Coronavirus in the country have tested negative.

“Following the testing of the five suspected cases of Novel Coronavirus 2019 conducted at different time points of their presentation to the hospital, the results of all the five suspected cases were all negative,” Botswana’s ministry of health and wellness said in a statement.

“The medical team will continue to monitor the cases and the public is still urged to continue being vigilant and to observe preventative measures such as diligent hand washing and covering of the mouth when coughing and sneezing.”

Healthcare workers in Botswana continue to screen all arrivals into the small southern African nation for the deadly virus.

Earlier this week, China’s top envoy in South Africa, Ambassador Lin Songtian addressed media in Pretoria, discouraging panic among African communities as news of the epidemic spreads.

Lin also expressed confidence in South Africa's capability to contain an outbreak.
