Eastern Cape Health MEC, Sicelo Gqobana says there are currently 109 vacancies for doctors at the three State hospitals in Port Elizabeth.
The MEC was replying to a question by the DA in the Bhisho Legislature, saying there were 70 vacancies at Livingstone, 35 at Dora Nginza and 4 at the Provincial hospital.
He said currently, interviews for doctors, nurses and support staff were being conducted, and appointments were being made.
Gqobana said a single advertisement would be placed next month to cover all vacancies for 2014/15.
