While store-bought almond milk is convenient, there’s something incredibly satisfying about making it yourself from scratch. With this simple recipe, you can adjust the sweetness, infuse various flavours, and even alter the thickness to your liking. It’s my top choice whenever I want fresh, homemade dairy-free milk.

The best part is that it only takes 10 minutes, 2 ingredients, and a blender.

Almond milk is an ideal option for those with specific dietary needs, especially for individuals who are lactose intolerant or avoiding dairy. Knowing how to make your own dairy-free milk is crucial, as it allows you to take charge of what goes into it, ensuring it’s free from unwanted additives and tailored to your preferences.

Start by soaking the almonds in water and store them in the fridge for 4 hours for a thorough soak. Then drain the water. Add the soaked almonds to a blender along with fresh water, a pinch of salt, and any other desired ingredients, such as dates for sweetness, or vanilla, cacao powder, or berries for an extra burst of flavour.

Blend the mixture for 1-2 minutes until smooth, then strain it through a nut milk bag into a mixing bowl. Squeeze the bag to extract all the liquid, and you’re good to go!
