Your skincare routine will never be the same as other people’s as our skin needs different ingredients and products to stay healthy and glow.

Over the years, the beauty industry and developed so many skincare products which have worked for some and others not at all. These results then lead people to say that the product doesn’t work whereas the product was not meant for their skin type.

Different skin types require certain products that can be overly expensive resulting in you not giving your skin the care it deserves.

Medical director of the Bombay Skin Clinic, Dr Batul Patel, says, “Skin is the largest organ of the body that absorbs the contents applied on the surface. Always be mindful of selecting safe yet effective ingredients. With the advent of social media and a plethora of influencer videos on skin care DIY tips, it can get overwhelming and at times confusing. Start with understanding your skin type, get verified information from medical experts, and always do a trial of the ingredients on your skin before using it on your face.”

According to Healthline, using DIY skincare tips can curb a lot of skin issues you might face as natural products have potents that deal with those problems.

Beauty expert, Dana Murray adds, “Often, natural ingredients can be inconsistent in makeup, so it’s hard to measure effectiveness and potency. Some natural ingredients, like essential oils, can irritate the skin.”

Beauty hub, Jeanni Rain Cloud, provides skincare DIY products you should invest in:

Sweet Almond Oil: Anti-aging carrier oil with Vitamin E and nourishing properties. Ideal for all skin types.

Coconut Oil: Healing, calming, anti-fungal, antibacterial, and ideal for salves. Coconut oil is also good when wanting to remove stretch marks and acts as skin brighter.

Beeswax Pastilles: Used to thicken oils, acts as a protective barrier.

Vitamin E Oil: Anti-aging antioxidant oil used for preservation. Rosehip Seed Oil reduces signs of ageing.

Citric Acid: Lowers product pH, preventing bacteria growth.

Cocoa powder: Beauty expert Dr Batul advises the usage of coca powder if you have dry skin as it helps with repairing the skin from damage caused by the sun and eliminates skin ageing.
