An Evening of Classics

The Alexander Playhouse has always been known for staging great musical shows, unfortunately, due to the pandemic our doors were closed for a long time - but now the curtain is rising again!

We are back with ‘An Evening of Classics’! On the eve of the 21st and 22nd of May, you will have the opportunity to be transported back to the era of classical music. Going all the way back to the music of the classical era, perfectly molded together with modern classics, it is a show that you cannot miss! The Dramatic Arts Society of East London (DRAMSOC), is offering the community of East London the chance to see a live classical show performed by highly qualified and trained musicians, many of whom are music teachers, molding the musical minds of the next generation. Comprised of violinists, pianists, vocalists, trumpeters with solos, duets, and group numbers, the evening will be unique and spectacular!

This concert features a blend of vocal and instrumental performances by Violinist and educator Esther-Joy Cloete, Trumpeter Jordan Blundell, clarinetist James fletcher, pianists Jo Stemmet and Pieter Taljaard, as well as, Vocal performances by Alison Hillstead, Renate von Weber, Celeste Kesner, Chule Novukela, Anastasia Mamaeva-Catanho, and Larry van der Merwe.  Accompaniment by Jo Stemmet and Pieter Taljaard.
