The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky has written to the family of US photojournalist, Brent Renaud, who was killed Sunday by Russian soldiers while filming what he knew the world needed to see.
51-year-old Renaud was an award-winning journalist and filmmaker who was working in the region for Time. According to numerous sources, Kyiv's police chief Andriy Nebytov said he had been targeted by Russian soldiers.
Two other journalists were injured and taken to hospital. It is the first reported death of a foreign journalist covering the war in Ukraine.
Renaud was a World Press photo award-winning journalist of whom Zelensky wrote, "May Brent’s life & sacrifice inspire the world to stand up in fight for the forces of light against forces of darkness."
