It’s official – the hugely successful first-ever Netflix African original series, Queen Sono, has been renewed for a second season.
Netflix announced the news yesterday saying that Pearl Thusi, Vuyo Dabula, Sechaba Morojele, Khathu Ramabulana and Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa, Chi Mhende, Loyiso Madinga, Rob Van Vuuren and Kate Liquorish will all reprise their roles.
six episodes. it was such a hit with viewers that there was a huge outcry on social media when it ended - it was clear that viewers wanted more and Netflix listened.

Netflix also announced this week that a new young adult drama will soon be released by the streaming service. This will mark Netflix’s second African original series. Called Blood and Water, it is set in Cape Town and was directed by award-winning Nosipho Dumisa and produced by Gambit Films.
According to a Netflix media release, the series follows the exploits of 16-year-old, Puleng Khumalo played by Ama Qamata(My Perfect Family, Rhythm City), as she transfers to Parkhurst College, a Cape Town school for elite scholars and academic overachievers, to investigate the 17-year- old cold case of her older sister, who was abducted-at-birth.
