WATCH: Trevor Noah’s message to the world

Trevor Noah has informed his fans that The Daily Show will not be filming episodes for the next week due to the threat of the coronavirus.

In a specially recorded video, Noah says, "We at The Daily Show have decided that we are not going to be having shows next week. We won't be recording anything from the studio because we are trying to do our part to socially distance ourselves." Trevor also explains in the video what 'social distancing' means for our daily lives.

He also announced via Instagram that his stand-up tour, Loud and Clear, will be put on hold for a month. He said,” In support of the World Health Organization's effort to inform and help individual communities slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus I will be postponing all tour dates for the next month. By reducing large gatherings we can help flatten the curve of any possible outbreaks to keep it manageable within our communities.”

New York City, where Noah is based, has gone into semi-lockdown as restaurants, bars and cafes in the city are now limited to food take-out and delivery only while nightclubs, movie theatres, small theatre houses and concert venues were instructed by city officials to close with immediate effect. A tweet by the City of New York stated that “We have to break the cycle and protect our must vulnerable New Yorkers.”

In Trevor Noah's words, "Stay home, stay safe, wash your hands, facetime your friends, and hopefully soon we will see the other side of it."
