No matter where you find yourself this festive season, there is no doubt that you will hear Mariah Carey belting out her 1994 hit Christmas tune, All I want for Christmas is You. And if you are much like the rest of us, you will turn up the volume and sing along.
Twenty-five years on, it is the Christmas song that has stayed the distance and just keeps getting bigger with every passing year. It is Spotify's most-streamed Christmas song of all time, it has more than 605 million views on YouTube since it was uploaded in 2009 and It has also just hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 list for the first time. It has also made Mariah Carey a very wealthy woman. One report from The Economist back in 2017 revealed that the song had brought in a total of $60 million dollars for Mariah – not too shabby!
Such is the phenomenon of this Christmas ‘ditty’ Amazon Music decided to make a mini-documentary called Mariah Carey is Christmas.
