Good news travels fast – especially if your name is Siya Kolisi and you are the Captain of the reigning Rugby World Cup team. Hence, when British sports journalist, Rob Harris, heard the news of the combined efforts of Siya and his wife Rachel to provide relief to the most vulnerable in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, he decided to find out more.
In the down to earth interview, Siya explains that now more than ever South Africa needs a revival of the unifying spirit that saw the nation come together in support of the Springbok rugby team during the world cup. He believes that it is only through a spirit of supporting one another that South Africa will survive the pandemic.
He also says in the interview that where he comes from “we love to help one another out.” This was clearly evident over the weekend when he and Rachel were in his township home of Zwide to deliver food parcels to the most vulnerable of residents through a joint operation between the Kolisi Foundation, Imbumba and Old Mutual.
