Legendary actors Paul Slabolepszy and Jana Cilliers join forces in this new SA movie, set to have its international premiere at the Garden Route International Film Festival from September 21 to October 11.
As is customary these days the Garden Route International Film Festival (GRIFF) will be going virtual this year.
Written and directed by William Collison, Mr Johnson is Collison's fourth film in collaboration with Azania Productions, the creators of box office hits such as Blessers and Broken Promises Forever.
Mr Johnson is billed as a “ bitter-sweet drama” that takes a look at some of the ways old people are so often disregarded, ignored and made to feel invisible in today's fast-paced society.
Here's the storyline in a nutshell: David Johnson awakes from a 50-year coma at the age of 76. He has a very hard time accepting his old body, the fact that he has lost more than half of his life, and the super modern world he now must adjust to. Frustrated and angry, he finally embraces the abrupt loneliness by consolidating his entire life into the one important romantic relationship he left behind, and he tracks down his college years sweetheart, Halina McCarthy.
The stellar cast is completed by Frank Rautenbach, Sisanda Henna, Graham Hopkins, Jailoshini Naidoo, Carla Claassen, Drikus Volschenk, Anthony Cole, Heike Brunner, Clayton Boyd, Marinus Gubitz, and Mila Guy.
To book for the festival you can subscribe for a Virtual On-line Subscription Pass for just R300 to get access to all the movies listed on the GRIFF website or you can book each film individually by booking a virtual once off ticket for Video Stream on Demand.
