The first-ever daily telenovela for the multi-media giant premiers on M-net this evening at 7 pm and will run Monday through to Thursday. Legacy is set in the opulent world of investment and revolves around the excessively wealthy Price family and the down to earth Potgieters - it is M-Net 101’s very first telenovela.
According to M-Net, Legacy’s “locus of conflict is an upmarket investment empire that was established decades ago by Sebastian Price, the patriarch of the super-wealthy Price family. Now he is a silver fox approaching retirement and it is clear that a family member will soon have to take over the reins. But who will it be? And, at what cost? Sebastian’s bitter ex-wife and ruthless first-born daughter will do whatever it takes to ensure that Sebastian's second wife, Dineo, does not push her playboy son into the position of CEO”. As is to be expected that power struggle turns nasty.
Taking on the roles of the current Mrs Price, Dineo, and Sebastian’s ex-wife, Angelique, a former lawyer who is now a woman of leisure, are two of Mzansi’s South Africa’s most lauded leading ladies: Kgomotso Christopher and Michelle Botes. Also in the stellar cast is another stalwart, Mary-anne Barlow, she will play the "villain of the piece" in the role of Felicity, Sebastian’s eldest daughter.
The seasoned film, television and theatre actor Deon Lotz plays the part of Sebastian while the impossibly good looking Anton David Jeftha plays Sebastian’s son SJ.
Add to the list Neil McCarthy, the multi-award-winning scriptwriter, director, producer, actor, and presenter, as the charming Gordon and you can see why this is sure to be a hit for the network. The incredible ensemble cast also includes Reandi Grey, Jay Anstey, Dawid Minnaar, Sean-Marco Voster, Trix Vivier, Siyabonga Thwala, Leeanda Reddy, and Don Mlangeni Nawa.
Legacy is the brainchild of Phathu Makwarela and Gwydion Beynon from the multiple-award-winning production company Tshedza Pictures. Their latest feat, The River, made a clean sweep at this year’s SAFTA awards with ten Golden Horns.
Legacy will be screened on M-Net Channel 101. DStv Premium viewers can also catch the series on Catch Up or stream the episodes live via their mobile devices on DStv Now.
