Congratulations to Hannes van der Walt who was crowned Mister South Africa 2020 on Saturday night.
The Kempton Park resident said he was inspired to enter the competition in the hope that, should he win. he could be a role model to those around him. This year the ceremony was a live-streamed event due to the pandemic. Nevertheless, there was still plenty of glitz and glamour in the form of judges Aretha Bauwens, media personality Saskia Riley and Mrs South Africa Top 5 finalist Storm Johnson serving as judges.
Van Der Walt took to Instagram to share his good news saying, “George Bernard Shaw said these very true words; Don’t wait for the right opportunity: create it. I’m so glad I took this opportunity to enter @mr.southafrica_official. It opened amazing doors! Thank you for all the good wishes, each and every message and all the support! I’m humbled to be your new Mr South Africa 2020.
