SA Idols judge Unathi Nkayi has apologised for her comments about Xhosa people being “tired of holding up the nation” saying, "It saddens me that I have broken so many hearts with what I said tonight."
She made the comments on live TV and found herself immediately on the receiving end of the wrath of viewers and social media users alike. One social media user posted the clip on her Twitter account and it has now gone viral.
According to IOL the social media users labelled Unathi as ' tribalist' and ' divisive'.
When congratulating contestant Luyolo Yiba on his performance, Unathi made the above-mentioned comment: “On behalf of the Xhosa people, we are tired of holding up the nation.”
