WATCH: Four Eastern Cape Miss SA hopefuls make it through the first round of judging  

24-year-old Butterworth hopeful Melissa Nayimuli  


Introducing the top 35 to the nation via social media, the Miss SA organizers were proud to announce that this is a wonderfully diverse group of women. Contestants include a lawyer, a filmmaker, a singer, two medical doctors, a fashion designer as well as models, graduates, and students.

As stated on iol Gauteng has 12 contenders, followed by Kwa-Zulu Natal with six, the Western Cape with five, the Eastern Cape and Free State with four each, while North West has two and Limpopo and the Northern Cape each have one entrant.

The Eastern Cape contestants include :  

24-year-old Aphelele Mbiyois who is from Port Elizabeth but currently lives in Johannesburg. She holds a BA degree in integrated marketing communications from the AAA School of Advertising in Cape Town. She works as a marketing associate and part-time model at Boss Models.

20-year-old Carla Peters grew up in Bethelsdorp but now finds herself living in the Mother City. She is a full-time model at Boss Models Cape Town and a drama student at Rondini Film School. 

24-year-old Lindokuhle Mvango is originally from Port Elizabeth but now lives in George.  She graduated with a higher certificate in business studies from Nelson Mandela University and is pursuing a diploma in logistics management. She is also a part-time model at 33 and me talent agency.

And last but not least, 24-year-old Melissa Nayimuli who was born in Butterworth but now lives in Johannesburg. She has a BA degree in Motion Picture Medium from AFDA and works as an account manager for a marketing agency.  

Melissa took to Instagram to share her excitement saying,"I still cannot believe that I'm typing this message. I'm so excited to announce that I have made it to the Miss South Africa Semi-Finals ???? Grateful for all the consistent love, support and encouragement I have received from all of you. Regardless of what happens from here on out, I will live in this moment, I will celebrate it, and i will cherish it forever.
A huge congratulations to the 34 beautiful women I get to share this moment with love????

Only 16 of these will be chosen to go through to the next round by the judges, Anele Mdoda and former Miss SA title holders Bokang Montjane-Tshabalala (2010), Liesl Laurie (2015) and Adè van Heerden (2017).
