Never underestimate the power of a sausage when trying to rescue a dog. Three-year-old Millie, a jack russell-whippet cross, had slipped her leash on a walk and become stranded on mudflats off the Hampshire coast and was in danger of being swept away by rising tides.
Rescuers, despite their valiant efforts, could not reach her by kayak so decided to see if they could lure her to higher ground.
It was then that the Denmead Drone Search & Rescue team, who had been called in to assist in the search for Millie, came up with an ‘appetizing idea’, attaching a sausage to a drone in the hope the scent would lure her to safety.
