WATCH : Cat Café in Ukraine stays open despite invasion

Owner of Cat Cafe Lviv Serhii Oliinyk

A Cat Cafe in Ukraine is undeterred by the explosions and carnage around them, choosing to stay open with its 20 cats as Putin’s forces continue their onslaught.

The  Cat Cafe Lviv has been open for six years and is home to twenty cats that greet the patrons and chill out with them while they are enjoying a meal or beverage.

Owner Serhii Oliinyk told The Dodo that while millions of Ukrainians are currently fleeing their country, he and his family are choosing to stay, “Our cats have been living in [the] cat cafe since the age of 4 months,” Oliinyk said. “They are like family. We realized that we would never leave our country, that this was the only place where we could see ourselves in the future.”

“I have a small team of several close people who have been working with me for several years and have become my closest friends. The cats have also gotten used to these people, who help to take care of them and who play with them when there are few guests because our fluffy residents love people’s attention.”

The story is spreading on social media and was picked up by several news channels. This report from CNN was shared by Shady Planes.
