Acclaimed South African filmmaker Stefan Enslin's inspirational film, Against All Odds: the Alwyn Uys Story has been nominated for a National Film & TV Award (NFTA) for Best Documentary.
On 13 December 2014, Alwyn Uys had a car accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down. Shattering his dreams of becoming a Springbok rugby player, Alwyn found himself in a wheelchair - how would this define the rest of his life?
This riveting documentary tells the story of how Alwyn overcame the odds to become an inspiration to thousands.
In 2019 he became the first South African paraplegic athlete to complete an Ironman in under 7 hours and on 13 December 2020 became the first paraplegic to ever swim from Robben Island to Eden on the Bay (Western Cape, South Africa).
