Warner Music Group has invested a sum of undisclosed money into Africori which is a digital music distributor, artist development and music rights management company.
Africori has worked with major and independent record labels and is the largest music distributor in Sub-Saharan Africa. They have worked with over 6 500 artists and 700 record labels and have offices in London, Lagos and Johannesburg.
Warner Music Group establishes its presence in the African market with this deal and gives Warner Music’s ADA access to Africa’s biggest catalogue and A&R market. Through Africori ADA will promote and distribute artists internationally with the Warner Music global network.
CEO of Africori Yoel Kenan said that the music market in Africa has started to gain a whole lot of traction and this deal will support our artists as new opportunities present themselves. Kenan added that they work with incredible artists and there A&R team is extremely talented when it comes to spotting new talent and it will be exciting to see them work with Warner Music’s global network.
This deal will support Africori’s distribution on its existing music catalogue which includes artists such as Elzo Jamdong, Jux, Master KG, Nabila, Nyashinski, Pappy Kojo, Sean Tizzle, Sho Madjozi, $pacely and Yung L. it will also give Africori a first opinion on international licences for all new signings.
Alfonso Perez Soto of Warner Music said that he is delighted that that they will be working together with Africori and in particular Yoel Kenan because they have been pioneers fighting for the interests of artists and the music industry in Africa.
President of Independent Music and Creator Services Eliah Seton said that their global team at ADA is extremely excited to partner with Africori and there is so much moment in music coming out of Africa at the moment.
